This is my summer hexagon. I went to a wedding in Sydney and also met some comparatively newly wed. Hence the lace and the hearts.
Australia has been hot and dry hence the red centre. We are getting a hint of green and still a few flowers.
My son sent me a butterfly pendant from Scotland, so I have represented January happenings. Haven't done any embroidery yet to the patch.

~~~
A piece of fabric from one of my mothers dresses, and a button off the dress. Her birthday is in January and she would have been 95 this January. I didn't put any other stitches or embellishment on her section because she always liked to keep things simple.
Eight little candles with beads for flames, for my granddaughters eight birthday in January.
Brown print fabric and lavendar speckled fabric were the two fabrics I used for an on online mystery quilt on New Years Day 2008. Got the year off to a good start!
Penguin button for the birthday granddaughter because she loves penguins.
Purple silk was given to me earlier this month. Sales samples given away by a company to a friend, and she says she will give me more for use in my projects. Yay.
Snowflakes for a few snowflurries we have had this month.
Lace angel In center I made on my embroidery machine. Another friend invited me to join a group that sends lace angels anonymously to people in need of encouragement. I just began doing that.
~~~

I picked the blue for the coldness in Missouri, the white for the icey storms we had last year , hoping we don't have it this year.I'm looking for a birhtday charms for the 5 birthdays I have this month!

~~~
The center was done by hand embroidery using the tissue transfer method, you will find my thoughts of winter in Maine with the snowflakes. just above the snowflakes you will find the antique lace from some pillowcases that belonged to my Mother-in-Law who was 94 when she passed away. The feather stitch has French knots on the tips and there are glass beads on the tips of the blanket stitch.
~~~

My snowman is for all the ice and snow that was on the ground for 7 weeks. We usually get snow and it melts before the next one. So, that is also the reason for the silver snowflake. I thought maybe the other ornament might pass for a snowflake also. The red and pink buttons are just there for color.

~~~
These fabrics are just some from my stash. January 19 we had the first snow since 1993 in South Alabama. Thought these would remind me of the snow.
~~~

I live in Canada where January is very cold and icy with blowing snow.
My hexagon has an angel in the center with fabric that reminds me of the snow and ice.
I used decorative machine stitches and embellished with metallic ribbon, a snowflake button, a figure skate and glass crystals.

~~~
This is the first time I have made a Crazy Quilt so I am having a lot of fun with it. I am totally using things I have around the house .. have not bought one thing. Shiny fabrics from costumes I have made for Grandchildren (two are actors), one does Ballroom Dancing, so I make lots of costumes. Leftover Ribbon from a granddaughters quilt I made. Lace and beads are in a drawer with other bits and pieces from various craft projects over-the-years.
~~~

I am only using scraps of fabrics, buttons and beads from my stash. Hopefully I can get through the year without buying anything.
The January Block has a snowman because we have lots of snow this winter in Ontario, Canada. The winter flowers are frosty white, there is a lace appliqué "snowflake", and the rickrack with the star beads is a bit of "Happy New Year" flash. 2 shimmering birds cross the frosted sky. I have a different snowman print on the back.

~~~
I did some hand stitching and a little by machine. I like the cool blues for January.
~~~

I have a dog in the center because our dog loves the holidays and he also gets many presents.

~~~
January reminds me of my husband's birthday. He is an avid motor bike rider. It is also my daughters's birthday in January and she loves strawberries which are so sweet and juicy in January. The stars in the middle represent Australia Day Fireworks and Wattle is a native Australian tree. The yellow depicts the sun and the beige the sand.
~~~

January was not a pleasant month for me. This patch depicts my December fall on my basement steps. Broke my shoulder and a few bones in my pelvis. That was also the day we began a week without power. The patch on the far right is supposed to look like my trees with all the broken limbs. I used colors that I think look cold and icy.

~~~
January was the first measurable snowfall of the season, and a picture from our window printed on fabric.
~~~

January was very cold and snowy. My husband had surgeory that did not go well in Calgary and I drank lots of coffee. The deer were here when I came home and the snowman is for my grandson who kept me going.

~~~
The change of the seasons and important dates of the months is what inspired my fabric choices. When growing up we celebrated every month weather it was Valentine's Day or the dog's birthday!
~~~

I am using decorative stitches in the machine and yarns, laces and ribbons.

~~~
February is just fabric in stash with some beads on it. Did make my daugher a Valentine pillow from the fabric on right bottom.
~~~

It reminds one of Valentine's Day and the butterfly in the middle reminds us of spring days to come. We all like flowers and they are given on Valentines Day. I seldom get the flowers which is O.K. by me. But, if you will notice there is a very small piggy on the left. I collect piggy banks and have many so when my hubby wants to get me something, most likely it will be a piggy bank.

~~~
This is the first time I have made a Crazy Quilt so I am having a lot of fun with it. I am totally using things I have around the house .. have not bought one thing. Shiny fabrics from costumes I have made for Grandchildren (two are actors), one does Ballroom Dancing, so I make lots of costumes. Leftover Ribbon from a granddaughters quilt I made. Lace and beads are in a drawer with other bits and pieces from various craft projects over-the-years.
~~~

My birthday is February 14th, therefore I chose fabric for the center of the February hexagon that reminds me of greeting cards/love letters.
Then I added chocolates, hearts, flowers and yes snow.
I uses machine decorative stitches and embellished with a heart charm, a pearl button, seed beads and a glass crystal.

~~~
The Memories include Candy fabric, flowers and heart for Valentines day.
Cotton Velvets given to me by my husbands favorite aunt. Has given up sewing due to health problems.
Red plaid wool for my outdoorsy grandson whose thirteenth birthday is this month. 13 beads that look like B-B's. A frog button because he loves to catch frogs and put them in the pond closer to the house. (when I find a guitar button or bead I will add it).
18 glass beads sewed into an 18 for my oldest grandchild, Elisabeth, celebrating her birthday this month. A bead shaped like wings, because she wants to fly away on her own one of these days.
An Amethyst bead near the center, birthstone for February.
~~~

The little charm, upper left I sewn on, is because it's so cold this month. One flower button for the one flower my dh got me for Valentines Day. (Anymore he would have gotten in trouble) The heart for the love I have for my 4 children, and 4 sets of hugs and kisses for them.

~~~
February's block has hearts and flowers in the fabric choices, an embroidered heart with an arrow through it, buttons shaped like flowers, and lace appliqués dyed in my coffee cup as I stitched. On the back I have a tiny 1930's repo. print of "heart buds. Still haven't had to buy anything.
~~~

This block so reminds me of Valentines. I did most of the stitching by hand. I'm not that good at that but I'm getting better at it.

~~~
This block is done in the traditional Valentines theme. I love it.
~~~

The sewing patch is for me - I love to sew. The hearts are for Valentines Day. The flowers represent our warm climate in February. It's our son's birthday in February and he loves to play soccer (or football in some countries). The fish is for the fun we have at the beach in February and the crayons are for the start of the school year. I haven'ty added any embelishments but these will go on in the future.

~~~
This block was done to commorate my 65th birthday and Valentines day which is the day before.
I used printable fabric for the center.
~~~

February is special to me because it is the month that our daughter was born. I used fabric from my stash, and enjoyed selecting different stitches on my machine.
I'll probably still add a button or two - just haven't found the perfect ones yet!

~~~
February was bleak in Alberta not many evergreen trees. The sky was clear and it was very cold. Valentines day was brighter. I took our dog (Mott) to see my husband in hospital. It was Chinese New Year (fans).
~~~

The highlight of February for me was the Super Bowl. I am using only fabrics I have on hand to make these blocks, although it is very tempting to go buy some more!

~~~
On Valentine's day many talented singers and musicians from our home town performed in a wonderful evening of music. On our way out of the theatre the ladies were all handed a beautiful long stem rose. The mouse button on my block depicts my granddaughter's birthday. The little mouse has special meaning to her and I.
~~~

The change of the seasons and important dates of the months is what inspired my fabric choices. When growing up we celebrated every month weather it was Valentine's Day or the dog's birthday!

~~~
On St. Patty's Day, everyone is Irish, lol . I love the mix of the shamrocks and the little patch of spring flowers.
~~~

The brown leaves patch reminds me of autumn which is well on it's way. The Lahl Irish Dancing patch is for my daughter and me who do Irish Dancing. The green is for St Patricks Day. The frog is for my mother in law who is called Frog as her birthday is on St Patricks day and is always cold, has green eyes.....and really is a lovely lady. The chocolate represents Easter and the true meaning, plus also the fact that I can eat chocolate and not feel guilty.

~~~
I'm from Toulouse, France.
I have quilted 4 blocks of the month, one with old cravattes (tie) in silk, one with differents material like velvet and cotton.
~~~

For the center of my March block, I found clip art of a lady with shamrocks and printed it on fabric. I added Dupioni silk and fabric that reminds me of Easter grass. I used machine embroidery stitches, bobbin work and also couched green embroidery floss. Embellished with gold coins (pot of gold), a cross for Easter and glass beads.

~~~
The Tie Button is for my husband and his NEW suit and tie job. The Journey tab is for our new life after 20 years in Army, and the hand with the heart is for the love I hold for my husband and America. Of course a clover and a snow flake for the snow we had the begining of this month. I picked alot of gold for the pot at the end of the rainbow, the middle for the spring colors starting to come up. And of course GREEN for March and my lawn.
~~~

Cheerful jelly beans for Easter.
8 on green satin for Saint Patrick's Day eight years ago/ anniversary of a sad memory not to be described here.
Center block a silver gray silk ( like a cloud, hopefully with a silver lining) with tears falling like rain. Lots of tears of sadness and gladness for daughter and her three children leaving an abusive relationship. Finally!! Moving in with us until she can get her finances established.

~~~
My center is white because where I live it is not unusual to have snow. Green is one of my most favorite colors. Green is also a sign of the changing season and new life to come. The buttons are there just to add a little more green.
~~~

The center block is a picture of my Granddaughter Elissa. We were visiting in Texas and I taught her how to ride her bike, hence the big smile. I also made a major purchase of an HQ16 quilting machine, the duck is for Easter and the last item "dog" represents the new addition to our family, Copper.

~~~
March is the month I get to work on my birdhouses for all the bird's I get in spring, so I thought this little bird house would be nice for my March month block.
~~~

March represents St. Patrick's Day, the colours that I chose for the block are of course, green. I forgot all about Easter being in March this year.....oh well, there is always next month.

~~~
The green colour represents Saint Patrick's day, the bunny is Easter, the beaded tulips are an indication of spring and the fish with the tiny bubbles are a reminder of a time spent in Hawaii this past March.
~~~

We lived in North Wales for a year and it starts out with St. Davids Day( the Welsh flag), Daffodills are everywhere, there are lots of lambs in the spring and of course St. Patrick's Day (shamrocks). Spring flowers as things were starting to look up.

~~~
At the top of this block I put the most important thing, to me, that happened in March.
I crocheted the green edging and the shamrock for this block. The fabric in the middle is for the all the blooming things we see in March in South West Missouri.
~~~

This is my Easter Block with the bunny fabric and bunnies. There is Easter egg fabric if you look really close.

~~~
Having Easter in March was something that doesn't happen often and we still had brown grass! I satin stitched two rows which are supposed to represent coloured eggs and added some little buttons, also for eggs. Then there is the little patch of shamrocks in the middle for St. Patrick's Day.
~~~

The change of the seasons and important dates of the months is what inspired my fabric choices. When growing up we celebrated every month weather it was Valentine's Day or the dog's birthday!

~~~
This block represents Spring to me with the return of the first Robin. There is also a button that was used on a sweater that I knitted for our oldest daughter.
~~~

I went with my Irish heritage with shamrocks, clovers, and lovely greens. The big shamrock was a pin I have had for years, but the back was broken, so I have put it to good use now.

~~~
I used spring colors, yellow for the sunny days coming, green for the green grass starting to show. Blue for the raining days along with the rain drops (upper left). Pink flower is the first crocus I saw. Watering can because I'm outside getting my gardens ready, and of course the smiley face, so happy spring is finally here! I love going through my stash and picking scraps of fabric and making something so special.
~~~

April is a special month in our family, we celebrate 3 birthdays, one is my husband's birthday and the other two are times to remember my in-laws on their special day. The three birthdays are represented by three buttons. Because I forgot all about Easter in March this year....I have added two Easter eggs to represent the holiday. The colours that I chose for the block remind me of how everything is brown at the beginning of the month and by the end we are getting some green and the flowers are starting to bloom.

~~~
April is such a wonderful month. Flowers, blooming trees, blue skies, sunny days, and the music of birds singing to each other.
~~~

When I made this one I thought of the many flowers, the spring thunder and lightening storms. And don't forget the beautiful star filled night sky. And don't forget the butterflies and the small creatures like the Lady Bug which is my favorite. Then there was the music from all the birds returning, the newly plowed fields and in my part of the world there is the prairie grass. And then there is our Anniversary. I hope that symbol shows up on your screen.

~~~
I decided to make my April hexagon an Easter theme, because it is usually later than it was this year. Ok, so the bunny is Peter Rabbit, and the egg shaped beads don't look like your typical Easter egg, but it's as good as my stash could deliver.
~~~

I like the bright and sunny look of my April block. It reminds me that the sunflowers and bees will soon be coming to my garden.

~~~
I put thoughts of Easter in there as well as spring, and then there is the start of baseball.
~~~

The fabric in my April hexagon represent rain drops and umbrellas, flowers starting to bloom, grass, vines and leaves.
I embroidered with machine stitches.
My embellishments are flower buttons, a flower charm, a blue bird and glass crystals.

~~~
The memories in this block are for my husband reaching a milestone birthday. Looking back with pride for spending ten years in the Marine Corp. His favorite hobby has always been fishing.
~~~

All of the purples remind me of the spring rains. Then there are all of the flowers that are springing up everywhere. The mortar board is for 2 of my grandchildren who graduated from High School.

~~~
Sunbonnet Sue is out in her garden, looking at all the flowers, buds and vines starting to grow. WATCH OUT for that tulip Sunbonnet Sue!!!!
~~~

I've put some May flowers along with the little girl for May Day. Also Memorial Day which is also my Birthday weekend.

~~~
I embroidered the block with things I see in May. Except for the paisley! I did that just because you had one on your block. I think I got a little carried away with the colors on it, but my granddaughter thought it was "cool", and that is good enough for me.
~~~

April showers brings May flowers and of course in May we have Mother's Day, which is symblolized in this block by the heart with xo's.

~~~
This block is in honor of our granddaugher, Emily, who turned 15 in May. She plays the saxaphone in the school band. She has a checkered scarf that is her favorite. She plays the electronic games of Rock Band and Guitar Hero and is very good at them. The Star fabric is a scrap from a quilt I made for her. The little spider charm is because she got bit on the leg a couple of weeks ago by a spider and had a bad reaction from it.
~~~

The colors I picked was for the many flowers coming up here. Yellow for all the sunshine I'm enjoying outside working in my gardens. The little white tassel is for my dear husband, who graduated with a dual Masters Degree this month. So proud of him.

~~~
All my favorite colours are in this block. The middle patch I cut from a robe I wore when my son was born 35 years ago for me its a happy memory block for sure.
~~~

The water is for the weekend getaway at the lake. June 14th is Flag Day. The bird house is for the many birds that I see daily, the little boy and the dog is for my childhood memories. Summer is a good time to sew and the green leaves of the tree provide wonderful shade. And then there is the rose which is for my very dear friend who lives in Australia. This month is her birthday.
